On March 14th the national “No Smoking Day” will sweep the nation. Even though this campaign focuses on the devastating effects smoking can have on an individual’s health, dentists are also showing a substantial interest to show people how smoking can also affect their oral health.

Dentists are hoping that by showing the dental problems that can emerge as a consequence of smoking, people will be encouraged to put down the cigarettes. Gum disease that can lead to diabetes, heart disease and strokes are just some of the worrying health problems that can occur as a result of smoking. By raising awareness of these health problems on national “No Smoking Day” dentists are hoping that individuals will quit the cigarettes not only in a bid to improve their dental health but also in an attempt to better their overall health.
